Technology Empowerment
It is no question that technology is becoming an integral piece of our daily lives. Researching for a paper,
searching for a job, viewing this webpage, learning English, and an infinite number of possibilities open
up with computer use. 
But what about those who are not connected to technology?
The Technology Empowerment program helps community residents overcome the barriers that separate them from the power of computers. From computer basics for those who never touched a computer to computer repair certification for those looking at IT as a career.
Last year:
- More than 600 were empowered with technology
- 7 students gained leadership and work experience as class instructors and technology promoters
- The program expanded from 3 classes each quarter to more than 10.
- New partnerships added training for Seniors, computer repair certification, and a mobile lab.
Looking into the future:
- Even more courses are being added in QuickBooks, Web Design, and Photo Editing.
- Advanced courses will be restructured to be more job‐focused.
- An ESL class will be offered for technology students.
