Our Programs

“‘I must do something’ always solves more problems than ‘Something must be done.’”

While unemployment rises across the nation, the Chavez Center is actually creating jobs in the community. In fulfilling a vision of a better future, we offer many job development opportunities in 4 main program areas.

Our programs train and prepare members to attain long‐term employment and achieve economiic security. Each program provides a different pathway into the job market, so member have many opportunities to get back on their feet.


Day Labor and Civic Engagement Program

Fosters professional growth by offering vocational ESL classes, trade skills workshops and a trusted place for members and employers to form job connections at fair wages. Members commit to personal growth through volunteer opportunities, leadership development, and become active leaders in our community.


Technology Empowerment Program

Provides a broad range of classes – from basic computer literacy to advanced technology use – to help community residents overcome barriers to accessing and utilizing technology. Participants gain skills that enhance employability, self‐confidence, and independence while helping engage them in their community.


Business Development Program

Assists families and individuals reach economic security through access to capital, financial education and entrepreneurship training. This is accomplished by providing the tools necessary for participants to be connected to the formal economy and be informed decision makers in their personal and professional lives.


Career Development Program

Empowers job-seekers to realize their potential, attain employment and establish a better quality of life. Through one‐on‐one resume building, interview coaching and career guidance, members develop tools and identify transferable skills that will aid them in conducting a successful job search.
